Cleveland, OH (Basketball News) - Zydrunas Ilgauskas scored 22 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to lead five Cavalier players in double figures, as Cleveland downed the Orlando Magic, 102-84, at Quicken Loans Arena.
LeBron James added 16 points and Drew Gooden chipped in 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Cavaliers, who have won six games in a row. Damon Jones netted 15 points off the bench on 5-of-8 shooting from behind the arc.
Cleveland is now 5-0 at home on the season.
Steve Francis poured in 21 points for the Magic, losers of two of their last three games. Keyon Dooling added 13 off the bench, while Dwight Howard had 10 points and 15 rebounds in the loss.
Orlando owned a 14-12 lead with 5:48 left in the first quarter, its only lead of the game, before Cleveland went ahead 15-14. The Cavs never trailed thereafter.
Cleveland would take a 24-20 lead with two minutes left in the opening quarter, and Jones’ three-point basket 1:01 later extended it to 27-22. Ilgauskas scored the last three points of the frame to give the Cavaliers a 30-24 lead going into the second.
With the score 31-29 just 1:44 into the second, Cleveland ran off eight- straight points for a 39-29 lead with 7:21 remaining. Gooden’s dunk with 47 seconds left capped the scoring in the frame, staking Cleveland to a 56-42 advantage.
The Magic never threatened in the second half as Cleveland cruised to the victory.
Two James’ free throws would make it 67-46 with 7:02 remaining in the third and Larry Hughes’ shot from behind the arc extended the Cavs to a 77-60 lead with 1:33 left in the stanza. James finished the scoring in the frame with a one-handed alley-oop jam with 21 seconds left for an 82-62 lead.
A 9-1 Cavalier run to open the fourth made it 91-63, and Jones’ three pointer with 7:30 left made it 97-69. It was the Cavs’ biggest lead of the contest.
Aleksandar Pavlovic’s jumper extended Cleveland to a 100-75 lead with just over two minutes left to play and was the Cavaliers only two-point field goal of the frame. All of their other points came off of three-point baskets and free throws.
