East Rutherford, NJ (Basketball News) - Mike Bibby netted 29 points and dished out 10 assists to lead Sacramento to an easy 109-84 win over New Jersey at Continental Airlines Arena.
Brad Miller added 21 points and seven rebounds for the Kings, who have won four of their past five games. Bonzi Wells chipped in with 16 points and 10 boards off the bench while Ron Artest and Kenny Thomas both tallied 11 points.
Vince Carter dropped 21 points for the Nets, who lost for the fourth time in five games. Richard Jefferson contributed 18 points and eight rebounds while Clifford Robinson had 13 points and Jason Kidd donated 10 points with 11 assists in the loss.
After a solid second quarter, the Kings continued to play well and extended their lead in the third frame. Sacramento scored the first eight points of the quarter to take an 18-point edge.
Miller opened the half with a jumper and Kevin Martin soon followed with a reverse layup. After a pair of free throws, Artest capped the mini-run with a beautiful driving finger roll to make the score 66-48 with less than three minutes gone in the quarter.
The Kings finished the stanza with an 85-68 cushion.
Sacramento then started the final frame by scoring the first nine points of the quarter. Miller’s jumper finished the burst and put the Kings on top 94-68 with less than eight minutes left.
New Jersey never seriously threatened the rest of the way as Sacramento coasted to the victory.
The two teams stood deadlocked at 26 after the first 12 minutes of action. The Kings used an excellent second quarter, in which they outscored New Jersey 32-22, to take a 10-point advantage into intermission, 58-48.
Bibby paced Sacramento at the half with 23 points on 9-of-11 from the field while Jefferson had 14 for the Nets.
