NBA Game Summary - Sacramento at Seattle

04.27.2005

Seattle, WA (Basketball News) - Ray Allen poured in a game-high 26 points to lead Seattle over Sacramento, 105-93, in Game 2 of the Western Conference quarterfinals at Key Arena.

Jerome James had another solid night for the SuperSonics, finishing with 19 points and nine rebounds, while Rashard Lewis finished with 12 points. Vladimir Radmanovic netted 10 points in the win.

James had 17 points and 15 rebounds in Seattle’s 87-82 win in Game 1 on Saturday night.

"I am thankful for the win," James said. "I am happy for the victory. We wanted to take the home court and be the aggressor. We came out and executed and it helped us get the victory. All year long we have been fighting together and tonight we did the same."

Bobby Jackson came off the bench to score 17 points and led a late fourth- quarter charge by the Kings, who fell behind 2-0 in the best-of-seven series with Game 3 set for Friday at Arco Arena. Mike Bibby had 16 points and eight assists in the losing effort.

"Everytime things went bad we kept looking at the officials instead of ourselves," Kings head coach Rick Adelman said. "When Brad (Miller) got his fourth foul that really hurt us and when they got up by 17 and 18 points in the third quarter they really got on us."

Seattle began to pull away in the early moments of the third period. Already leading by double digits, the Sonics, fueled by a 15-7 surge, garnered a 19- point cushion after Luke Ridnour buried a three-pointer with 7:16 to go.

A pair of Bibby buckets got the Kings within 70-55, but Seattle continued to stretch its lead.

After a Brian Skinner field goal, Lewis sparked an 8-0 Sonics run with his dunk at the 4:46 mark. Lewis added another bucket moments later, while Radmanovic capped it on his jumper, staking Seattle to an 80-57 advantage.

Seattle eventually led 88-62 heading into the fourth.

After trading buckets to open the final quarter, the Kings went on a 15-0 surge to pull within 90-79. Skinner started the burst with a field goal, while Jackson and Eddie House each knocked down a three-pointer.

House’s trey capped the flurry with just over eight minutes remaining in the game.

James finally ended the burst with his bucket moments later, but the Kings continued to hang around and trailed 100-92 following Jackson’s trey with 2:30 left on the clock.

However, that is as close as Sacramento would get the rest of the way.

Allen and James paced the Sonics in the first half with 12 and 10 points, respectively, to give Seattle a 55-44 lead at the break.

The Sonics led 26-22 after the first quarter.

Seattle outrebounded Sacramento 45-42 and shot 24-of-30 (80 percent) from the free throw line...The Kings’ Peja Stojakovic finished with nine points and 10 rebounds in the losing effort...The Sonics shot 48 percent from the floor, while Sacramento was just 38-of-90 (42 percent).
