NBA Game Summary - San Antonio at Dallas

12.1.2005

Dallas, TX (Basketball News) - Tony Parker scored a season-high 30 points and the San Antonio Spurs held off the Dallas Mavericks, 92-90, in a Southwest Division thriller at American Airlines Center.

Michael Finley, starting in place of an injured Manu Ginobili, scored 15 points against his former team, and Tim Duncan contributed 13 points and 14 rebounds for the defending NBA champions, who have won two straight and improved to a Western Conference-best 12-3 this season.

Marquis Daniel netted a season-best 24 points and pulled down eight rebounds for the Mavericks, who have lost two in a row. Dirk Nowitzki added 14 points, nine rebounds and six assists, but missed a potential tying jumper at the buzzer.

It was a wild ending to the contest. Two free throws by Parker extended the Spurs to a 92-88 lead with 12.2 seconds left. Daniels then missed a jumper, but got his own rebound and was fouled by Brent Barry on a three-point attempt with 6.1 seconds remaining.

Daniels made the first two foul shots, but missed the third. Duncan got the rebound along the baseline, but fell out of bounds. Duncan claimed he was pushed out, but instead was called for traveling with 3.5 seconds to go.

Jason Terry inbounded the ball for Dallas to Nowitzki in the corner, but with Bruce Bowen blanketing him, Nowitzki’s jumper caromed off the rim as time expired.

The result was a sharp contrast to the first meeting of the season, as the Mavericks prevailed 103-84 at home on November 5.
