Denver, CO (Basketball News) - Tim Duncan scored 23 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead the San Antonio Spurs to an 89-75 win over the Denver Nuggets at the Pepsi Center.
Manu Ginobili recorded 16 points for the Spurs, who have won two straight after losing two in a row. Malik Rose added 11 points and Tony Parker 10, as San Antonio has won four straight and 25 of the last 30 versus Denver.
Carmelo Anthony tallied 24 points for the Nuggets, who had a four-game win streak come to an end and concluded a five-game homestand 4-1.
Denver played most of the night without starting forward Kenyon Martin, who was suffering from flu-like symptoms.
The Spurs ran out to a 23-8 lead and never looked back. Duncan scored eight and Ginobili added seven during the early burst for San Antonio, which carried a 26-15 lead advantage into the second quarter.
Ginobili later scored four straight points, capping an 8-0 burst, that gave the Spurs a 48-35 lead with 1:42 left until halftime. Ginobili then hit a three before the buzzer to send San Antonio into the break with a 53-39 cushion.
In the third, Anthony scored six of the first eight points for the Nuggets, who drew within 53-47 before San Antonio pulled away. The Spurs scored the next 10 points and cruised the rest of the way. Rose’s jumper with 4:12 left capped the run and staked the Spurs to a 63-47 advantage.
Marcus Camby tallied 13 points and 11 boards for Denver, which shot only 34 percent from the field.
