NBA Game Summary - San Antonio at Golden State

Oakland, CA (Basketball News) - Tony Parker scored a career-high 35 points and hit the go-ahead basket with 2.9 seconds remaining in the second overtime, lifting the San Antonio Spurs to a 136-134 win over the Golden State Warriors at The Arena.

Parker also dished out 12 assists and grabbed six rebounds for the Spurs, who also won a 2-OT game on Saturday night against the Clippers in Los Angeles. Nazr Mohammed added 19 points and 15 rebounds for San Antonio, which moved within one-half game of the Phoenix Suns for the best record in the Western Conference.

Baron Davis scored 32 of his 38 points after halftime for the Warriors, who had their longest winning streak in 14 years come to an end at eight straight. Jason Richardson added 23 points for Golden State, which is out of playoff contention but was still the hottest team in the league.

Trailing 64-63 in the third quarter, the Warriors went on a 15-4 run to take a 10-point lead. Davis had seven points during the run, which was capped by a Troy Murphy tip-in with 5:11 remaining that gave Golden State a 78-68 cushion.

The Warriors continued to lead, 90-82, heading into the fourth and extended to a 93-82 advantage when Zarko Carbarkapa drained a three-pointer in the early stages.

San Antonio, however, battled back and used a 12-2 run to draw within 95-94. Brent Barry had eight of the 12 points for the Spurs, who later managed to tie the game at 107-107 on a Parker jumper with 1:52 remaining.

The game went back-and-forth for the remainder, with each team always finding an answer. After Mike Dunleavy gave the Warriors a 115-112 lead on a three- pointer with 52 seconds left, Robert Horry answered with a trey to tie the game 15 seconds later.

Parker gave the Spurs a 117-115 lead with five seconds on the clock, but Davis sent the game into overtime by hitting a driving layup over Bruce Bowen as time expired.

Davis had 14 points in the fourth quarter, scoring nine of the final 12 points for the Warriors. Parker, on the hand, had 10 fourth-quarter points and the duo continued to battle in the extra session.

Davis gave the Warriors a 122-121 lead 1:36 into the stanza, but Parker answered with a driving layup on the Spurs’ next possession to regain the lead. He then hit a long jumper with 2:30 remaining to extend the advantage to three points, 124-121.

After Dunleavy made 1-of-2 from the line, Parker again hit a long jumper for a 127-123 lead with 1:47 on the clock.

Then, after Mohammed missed a pair of free throws with 27 seconds left that would have made it a two possession game, Davis converted a three-point play with 20.4 seconds left to tie things up at 130-130.

Parker had a chance to put the Spurs ahead, but missed an elbow jumper with four seconds remaining. Dunleavy then missed a runner as time expired, sending the game to another OT.

The second had a lot less scoring and a Richardson short jumper with 42 seconds left tied the game at 134-134.

On the Spurs’ next possession, Bowen missed a short jumper. However, Dunleavy came down with the rebound, but stepped out of bounds with 16 seconds left, giving the ball back to the Spurs.

Parker took advantage and hit a driving layup over Derek Fisher with 2.9 seconds left for the two-point lead.

After San Antonio committed its last foul before entering the penalty, the Warriors had 2.6 ticks left to get a shot off. However, Golden State lost the inbounds pass and time ran out.

Barry, Bowen and Horry each had 17 points for the Spurs, who have won four of five overall.

Dunleavy ended with 16 points and Adonal Foyle had 15 points, 16 rebounds and four blocks for the Warriors, who lost for only the second time in 13 games.
