NBA Game Summary - Seattle at Chicago

01.5.2006

Chicago, IL (Basketball News) - Rashard Lewis scored 21 points to lead the Seattle SuperSonics over the Chicago Bulls, 101-97, at the United Center.

Ray Allen added 20 points, including 4-of-6 from beyond the arc, before he got poked in the eye and had to leave the game. Luke Ridnour netted 15 points and hit 9-of-9 from the charity stripe for the Sonics, who snapped a two-game losing streak and won in Bob Hill’s first game behind the bench.

"I like the style," said Lewis. "There is a lot of movement and it is set for not just one guy, but for a lot of combinations. It is designed for lay-ups and easy baskets. He (Hill) had a lot of rotation tonight to make sure everyone was fresh and was playing hard. He changed a lot of plays and the line-ups. We’re still learning, but I’m looking forward to it."

The SuperSonics fired Bob Weiss on Tuesday and replaced him with Hill.

Ben Gordon scored 21 points and Darius Songaila netted 20 for the Bulls, who have lost eight straight games. They were playing without center Tyson Chandler. who missed the game with a sprained ankle.

"We put together 40 good minutes, but eight poor minutes of basketball is not good enough," said Songaila. "We just had too many lapses."

Seattle led 79-69 with almost 11 minutes left in the game, but Chicago cut the deficit to four on Eddie Basden’s free throw.

Seattle won the tip and Chicago sent Ridnour to the line. He hit both free throws with three seconds left and sealed the victory.

Chicago took a 19-14 lead in the first quarter on a Harrington free throw, but Seattle used a 10-5 run, highlighted by Lewis’ five points, to come back and tie the game 24-24 after 12 minutes of play.
