NBA Game Summary - Seattle at Denver

12.30.2005

Denver, CO (Basketball News) - Ray Allen scored a season-high 39 points and Rashard Lewis added 27 to lead Seattle over Denver, 112-105, at the Pepsi Center.

Ronald Murray tallied 18 points and grabbed six rebounds for the Sonics, who won for the second time in three games. Damien Wilkins recorded 12 points, eight assists and seven boards, as Seattle used an 11-2 run midway through the fourth to go ahead for good.

Down 94-90, Lewis sparked the run with a three-pointer. Allen then hit a trey of his own to tie the contest at 96-96 and Wilkins’ bucket gave Seattle the lead for good. Allen’s basket just past the midway point of the fourth capped the burst and gave the Sonics a 101-96 edge.

"The shots were there for me tonight," said Allen. "It was a fun game to play because it went back and forth."

Andre Miller later drew the Nuggets within 103-100, but Allen again hit a three-pointer to extend the advantage to six points with just over four minutes left.

With a minute to go, Denver made it a two-possession contest, 109-105, but a pair of Reggie Evans free throws with 41 seconds left secured Seattle’s win.

Carmelo Anthony ended with 32 points for the Nuggets, who have dropped two in a row and six of eight. However, he scored just two points and went without a field goal in the final 18 minutes, 13 seconds.

"Ray was in the zone," said Denver head coach George Karl. "I’ve been on the good side of that. Tonight I was on the bad side."

Earl Boykins added 22 points for Denver, which trailed 27-25 after the first quarter but led 61-58 at halftime.

The third quarter was close throughout, with Denver going into the fourth with an 85-82 cushion.

Denver’s Marcus Camby had successful surgery to have a pin placed in his right pinky finger on Thursday. He is sidelined indefinitely...Kenyon Martin returned to the lineup for the Nuggets and finished with 11 points and seven rebounds...Francisco Elson started in place of Camby and ended with 15 points and nine boards...Seattle improved to 5-7 on the road...Denver fell to 9-6 at home...Anthony tied a season-high in steals with four.
