Philadelphia, PA (Basketball News) - Allen Iverson went over the 40-point mark for the eighth time this season with 41, leading Philadelphia to a 107-98 win over Seattle at the Wachovia Center.
Iverson also had nine assists and seven rebounds, while John Salmons added 18 points for the Sixers, who ended a two-game losing streak. Kyle Korver netted 17 points and Andre Iguodala had 16, as the Sixers played without star forward Chris Webber, who was sidelined with a back strain.
Webber is averaging 19.4 points and 10.3 rebounds in 32 games this season.
Ray Allen led the Sonics with 27 points. Vladimir Radmanovic notched 15 points and 12 rebounds for Seattle, which has lost three in a row. Rashard Lewis finished with 14 points in the setback.
Philadelphia used a 19-5 run during the third quarter to grab a comfortable 79-60 advantage. Iverson’s layup capped the tremendous surge on a layup with about 3 1/2 minutes to go in the stanza. The 76ers then carried an 85-73 lead into the fourth quarter.
Allen and the Sonics, though, pulled within 93-86 when the star guard drained a three-pointer with less than six minutes to go in the contest. Allen’s three capped a 7-0 run, but Samuel Dalembert converted a three-point play to restore the double-figure lead.
Seattle then pulled within six twice, the last time at 101-95 on a pair of Lewis free throws, but a Salmons three-pointer made it a nine-point game. The Sonics never threatened the rest of the way and suffered the loss.
Seattle led 26-22 after the first quarter, but the Sixers battled back and grabbed a slim 49-47 edge at halftime. Iverson led all scorers at the break with 19 points, while Allen paced the Sonics with nine.
