New York, NY (Basketball News) - Chris Bosh poured in a game-high 29 points, Jalen Rose added 25 and Toronto routed New York, 105-93, at Madison Square Garden.
Morris Peterson added 18 points while Rafer Alston chipped in 13 points and nine rebounds for the Raptors, who trailed by as many as 19 late in the first half before rallying to snap a two-game slide. The Raptors ended 24- of-28 from the free throw line.
Stephon Marbury led New York with 22 points and nine assists. Maurice Taylor came off the pine to net 17 points, while Tim Thomas and Jerome Williams each contributed 11 for struggling New York, which has dropped 10 of 11.
New York carried a commanding 54-38 advantage into the locker room, but Toronto rallied with a furious burst to open the second half.
Rose’s jumper ignited a 22-4 furry to start the third quarter that ended on Bosh’s basket which gave Toronto a 60-58 lead at the 4:47 mark of the period. The Raptors then headed into the final stanza with a 70-68 advantage.
Toronto increased its lead to seven, 93-86, on Alston’s jumper with four minutes left in the contest. New York never recovered from that point and was booed off the court after the 12-point loss.
New York, which led 22-20 after one quarter of play, gained some breathing room in the second. An 8-2 spurt to open the frame was capped by Jermaine Jackson’s driving layup which staked the Knicks to a 30-22 lead with under nine minutes remaining in the first half.
New York led by as many as 19 points in the first half.
