Sacramento, CA (Basketball News) - Mike Bibby scored a game-high 25 points and Peja Stojakovic added 21, as the Sacramento Kings blew out the Utah Jazz, 119-83, at ARCO Arena
Bonzi Wells added 15 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists, and Brad Miller contributed 14 points, six assists and six boards for the Kings, who have won two of their last three games. Sacramento shot 54.7 percent from the field.
Milt Palacio led the Jazz with 19 points off the bench and Deron Williams added 12 but no other player reached double figures for Utah, which has lost three straight.
Sacramento raced out to a 33-18 first-quarter lead after shooting a torrid 66 percent from the floor. Stojakovic led Sacramento with nine points and the four other starters had six points each in the quarter as the Kings went on a 16-1 run to jump out to a 21-point lead at 33-12. Utah ended the frame on a 6-0 run to cut the Kings’ lead down to 15.
However, the Kings didn’t get their first bucket of the second quarter until over seven minutes had elapsed, allowing the Jazz to climb back within 35-32 with 4:45 left in the half before establishing control again. The Kings went on a 16-7 run to end the quarter and opened a 51-39 lead at the half.
With less than five minutes gone in the third quarter, Sacramento held a 62-50 lead, but the Kings went on a 14-6 run to push their advantage to 20. After Kenny Thomas hit three straight hoops, Bibby’s conventional three-point play with just under two minutes remaining in the third quarter upped Sacramento’s lead to 87-60. The Kings led 94-66 at the end of the third quarter.
The Kings extended their lead to 33 points at 107-74 with just over five minutes remaining.
