Sacramento, CA (Basketball News) - Mike Bibby scored 23 points to lead the Sacramento Kings past the Utah Jazz, 96-78, at ARCO Arena.
Kevin Martin netted 20 points, while Francisco Garcia had 11 points for the Kings, who rebounded from an 89-79 loss at Utah Friday night. Kenny Thomas and Shareef Abdur-Rahim added 10 points apiece for the Kings, who won for just the third time in their last nine games.
Mehmet Okur scored 25 points to pace the Jazz, who had a two-game winning streak snapped. Matt Harpring scored 14 points, while Andrei Kirilenko posted 12 points. Milt Palacio added 11 points in the loss.
The Kings were undone by a miserable shooting performance in the fourth period on Friday, but blew away the Jazz two days later. Sacramento made 12-of-14 free throws in the stanza, but missed all 20 of its field goal attempts at the Delta Center.
Sacramento scored 10 in a row to move to an 18-10 lead. Bibby’s three-pointer pushed the Kings into the lead and his two free throws capped the spurt. The Kings were on top 32-25 after the first quarter.
Sacramento took off on an 11-0 run snapped by an Okur jumper with 4:35 in the second quarter. The Jazz, nevertheless, managed to outscore Sacramento by one point in the period for a 46-40 halftime deficit.
The Jazz closed within three in the third, but were still behind 65-58 going into the fourth.
However, the Kings scored the opening 10 points of the fourth and matched their largest lead of the game at 88-68 on a runner by Martin with 3:13 remaining.
