The Silver Stars have managed a league-worst 6-18 record in 2004. Assistant coaches Shell Dailey and Vonn Read will share head coaching duties for the remainder of the season.
"I hope that this change will lead the team in a new direction," Brown said.
Brown, who played 12 seasons in the NBA from 1990-2002, was also the head coach of the WNBA’s Orlando Miracle in 2002. He guided the club to a 16-16 mark but did not return when the franchise moved to Connecticut the following year.
Brown averaged 11.2 points with Boston, Toronto and Orlando during his playing career. He won the slam dunk competition in 1991 and led the league with 135 three-point field goals in 1998-99.
