(Basketball News) - Vin Baker scored 18 points and pulled down 13 rebounds to lead Boston to a 91-82 win over Sacramento Sunday at the FleetCenter.
Paul Pierce posted 17 points for the Celtics, who used a 21-10 run in the second half to snap a three-game losing streak overall and a six-game skid to Sacramento. Eric Williams chipped in with 12 points and six boards off the bench.
Boston registered 11 of 18 points in the final 2:07 of the third quarter to snap a 62-62 tie. A layup by Raef LaFrentz put the team ahead for good, at 64-62 with 2:07 remaining in the quarter.
In the fourth quarter, Boston utilized a 10-3 run to take control. Pierce’s jumper with 5:36 remaining put the Celtics ahead 83-72.
Sacramento did not get any closer than five points the rest of the way.
Baker’s 13 boards were his highest output with the Celtics.
The Celtics, who improved to 2-1 at home this season, outscored Sacramento 40-16 off the bench.
Boston is off until Tuesday when it visits Jermaine O’Neal and the Indiana Pacers.
