Ford, who fell hard after scoring and getting fouled by Minnesota forward Mark Madsen with 4:34 left in the game, was taken to St. Luke’s Medical Center for precautionary x-rays on his neck. The x-rays revealed only a neck sprain and he will be kept overnight for further observation and will be listed as day- to-day.
Damon Jones, Ford’s teammate, said that the Texas product said he had no feeling in any of his extremities while he lay motionless on the floor. However, after the game Milwaukee personnel said Ford did regain feeling.
Ford was on the court for several minutes before he was put on a stretcher and removed from the court.
Last spring, Ford had a similar injury after falling during a pickup basketball game. While school officials at Texas refused to disclose the injury, a witness said that Ford was slapped on the back of his neck and lay motionless for several minutes.
