Bucks’ Simmons needs surgery, will miss rest of season

12.7.2006

Milwaukee, WI (Basketball News) - Milwaukee Bucks forward Bobby Simmons will need surgery to remove bone spurs in his right ankle, and is expected to miss the rest of the regular season.

The procedure is scheduled for Monday, December 18, and will be the first of two stages. The second procedure, which will address a symptomatic cyst in his right heel bone and plantar fascitis, is yet to be scheduled, but will occur in the weeks following the first surgery.

The swingman originally suffered the injury in training camp and has been sidelined since October 14.

The 26-yard old Simmons averaged 13.4 points and 4.4 rebounds in 2005-2006, his first season with Milwaukee. In five career seasons, with the Bucks, Los Angeles Clippers and Washington Wizards, Simmons has averaged 10.7 points and 4.3 rebounds per game.
