Bucks try to get back on winning track in Atlanta

01.20.2006

(Basketball News) - The Milwaukee Bucks try and halt a three-game losing streak this evening when they conclude a three-game road trip against the Atlanta Hawks at Philips Arena.

Milwaukee’s latest setback came on Wednesday, as it was upended by Tim Duncan and the defending NBA champion San Antonio Spurs at the AT&T Center. Michael Redd poured in 26 points on 10-of-18 shooting and grabbed eight rebounds and Maurice Williams netted 18 points off the bench for the Bucks.

Rookie Andrew Bogut recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 boards, while Jamaal Magloire added 10 points and nine rebounds before fouling out for Milwaukee, which has dropped four of its last five and seven of its last nine.

Milwaukee fell to 9-1 in games decided by three points or less and 13-1 in games decided by six points or less.

The Bucks, who will start a two-game homestand after tonight, have lost four of their last five and are 9-10 away from home this season.

Atlanta, meanwhile, comes in on a sour note after falling to the NBA’s best team the Detroit Pistons, 117-89, at home on Wednesday. Al Harrington had 21 points and 10 boards for the Hawks, who have dropped five of their last six contests.

Salim Stoudamire contributed 17 points and Joe Johnson added 13 in the loss.

On the injury front the Hawks are expected to again be without guard Tyronn Lue (back), while center John Edwards (back) is questionable for tonight’s affair.

Atlanta, which is in the midst of a seven-game homestand, is 7-11 in its arena this season. The Hawks are 1-2 thus far on the stand, which will close with visits from Indiana, Cleveland and Phoenix.

Milwuakee took two of three from the Hawks last season, but could be at a disadvantage tonight, as the road team in this series has dropped five straight and 13 of the last 16 meetings. The Bucks have also lost two straight and five of their last six in Dixie.
