Bulls continue dominance of Raptors

Toronto, ON (Basketball News) - Darius Songaila scored 18 points to lead a well-balanced attack, as the Chicago Bulls defeated the Toronto Raptors, 105-94, at the Air Canada Centre.

Chris Duhon added 16 points and Luol Deng chipped in with 13 points and nine rebounds for the Bulls, who have won two of their last three games overall and have beaten the Raptors 10 straight times. The Bulls had seven players in double-digit scoring and shot 57.8 percent from the field, including 9-of-17 from three-point range.

Chris Bosh led all scorers in the game with 25 points and Mike James chipped in 16 points, six assists and five rebounds for the Raptors, who have lost three of their last four. The 10-game losing streak to the Bulls is the longest the Raptors have against any team in the league.

Chicago had a 76-68 advantage going into the last stanza. However, the Raptors came back in the last 12 minutes and made it a two-point game following Bosh’s dunk to make the score 85-83 with 7:41 to play.

However, Ben Gordon hit a three-pointer on the Bulls’ next possession and they steadily increased their lead throughout the remainder of the quarter to get their seventh road victory of the season.

A jumper by James cut Toronto’s deficit to 95-92, but seven straight points by the Bulls iced the win.

On the strength of a 10-4 run in the first quarter the Raptors held a 25-22 advantage at the end of the opening 12 minutes.

Toronto continued to increase its lead in the second quarter and led by as much as nine points after Aaron Williams hit two free throws to make it 43-34 with under six minutes remaining in the half.

However, the Bulls used an 11-4 run to cut the Toronto lead to 47-45 after Deng hit a layup with 3:22 to play. Toronto hit five of its next six free throws and took a 56-51 lead into the locker room.

Chicago started out the second half with a 17-5 run and had a 68-61 lead after Duhon hit a three-pointer with 2:29 to play in the third quarter.

Toronto got back to within two points when Morris Peterson hit a trey to make the score 68-66 with 1:35 left. However, Chicago used a mini 8-2 spurt to close out the quarter with a 76-68 advantage.

Game Notes

Chicago travels to Detroit for a matchup on Friday...The Raptors will host the Warriors on Friday...The Bulls are 7-1 when they score over 100 this season...The Raptors are 2-13 when they allow 100 points or more...Chicago outscored Toronto 40-28 in the paint...The Bulls dominated the boards, outrebounding the Raptors 42-25 in the contest.
