Crawford was guarding Fred Hoiberg at the three-point line and went for Hoiberg’s head fake. He jumped in the air and landed on the shooter as he was attempting to shoot. Crawford did almost a full flip and came down on his head, apparently injuring his neck.
The 23-year-old was immobilized and taken from the court on a stretcher. He did, however, have feeling in all of his extremities when he was brought to Rush Presbyterian Hospital, where he will be held overnight for precautionary reasons.
Crawford had just five points and five fouls before suffering the injury. The Timberwolves went on to post a 92-89 overtime victory.
The 6-foot-5, 195-pound Crawford came into the contest averaging 15.4 points and 5.1 assists in eight games this season.
