Bulls seek to improve mediocre home record

(Basketball News) - The Chicago Bulls completed a busy four-game week with a 32-point pounding of the Boston Celtics on Saturday. It evened the team’s record for the week at 2-2 and brought it’s home record up to the .500 mark as well.

The Bulls remain over .500 (12-11) overall, but are seven games behind Detroit’s NBA-best 18-3 record.

Mike Sweetney scored 24 points and grabbed seven rebounds in Chicago’s win over Boston at the United Center on Saturday night. Chris Duhon, who went 6- of-7 from three-point range, had 22 points and eight assists.

Chicago hit 60-percent of its shots for the game, including a blistering 14- of-17 on three-point tries, while the Celtics made just 38-percent of their field goals and were a dismal 4-of-15 from behind the arc.

The Bulls will play two more home games (Charlotte - Tuesday, Cleveland - Thursday) before leaving the Windy City for a three-game road trip.

The team’s leading scorer, Luol Deng (14.5 ppg) bruised his left knee Saturday night and did not return after playing just 19 minutes. Deng said he probably could have played and doesn’t think the injury is of any concern.

Ben Gordon averaged just 8.5 ppg last week, well below his season average of 14.0 ppg.

The Bulls shot 53.03-percent (35-for-66) from three-point range last week. They also out-rebounded their opposition in three of the four games.
