Bulls try to end road woes at LA

11.19.2006

(Basketball News) - The Chicago Bulls will try to halt a three-game losing streak this evening when they take on the Los Angeles Lakers at the Staples Center.

Chicago is 0-3 so far on a seven-game road trip and suffered a 100-83 loss to the San Antonio Spurs on Friday night at the AT&T Center. Ben Gordon had 21 points for the struggling Bulls. Luol Deng tallied 14 points, while Kirk Hinrich netted 12 points in the losing effort.

Gordon suffered a sprained thumb, but is expected to be in the lineup for the Bulls, who are 1-5 on the road this season.

Meanwhile, the Lakers have won two straight and improved to 2-1 on their current five-game homestand with Friday’s 107-100 victory over the Toronto Raptors at the Staples Center.

Lakers star Kobe Bryant had 31 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists to lead Los Angeles. Bryant became the youngest player ever to reach the 17,000-point plateau (28 years, 86 days), surpassing Wilt Chamberlain, who accomplished the feat in 28 years, 102 days.

Luke Walton added 12 points and Smush Parker netted 11 for the Lakers, who are 5-1 as the host this season. Lamar Odom ended with 10 points in the win.

Los Angeles and Chicago split a pair of meetings last season, but the Lakers have won four of six and five of the last eight meetings in the series.

Chicago has lost seven of its last nine at the Lakers.
