Carter heating up at right time

03.27.2007

(Basketball News) - Is it safe to refer to Vince Carter’s recent play as ’Vinsanity’ much like his days in Toronto were?

I think it’s only fair since Carter, who erupted for 40 points in a win over Charlotte last weekend, is averaging 24.4 points over his last 10 games and has helped New Jersey to the eighth and final playoff spot in the East.

Carter has been more durable than a Brillo pad this season for the Nets, having appeared in all 70 games. If Carter doesn’t miss another outing this season it will be the second time in his career (1999-00) that he competed in all 82 regular-season games.

The last time a New Jersey hoopster played in all 82 games was during the 2003-04 season, when Richard Jefferson and Kerry Kittles saw action in every contest.

Carter, the Nets’ leading scorer with 25.0 ppg, must keep his ’Vinsanity’ approach for Wednesday against the Indiana Pacers because they are currently a half game behind New Jersey for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. The Pacers play on Tuesday night versus Cleveland and can shake up the playoff picture with a win over the Cavs. The Nets are idle this evening.

New Jersey has won four of its last seven games and will play four of the next six contests at Continental Airlines Arena, where it is 18-17 this season. The road ahead is a bumpy one, however, as the Nets will take on a few tough opponents in Detroit, Philadelphia, Chicago, Washington and Cleveland.

If and when the Nets record another victory, head coach Lawrence Frank will tie Byron Scott for the most wins in franchise history. Frank is 148-126 so far with New Jersey, while Scott compiled a 149-139 record in his tenure.

Carter does nothing. Without Kidd the team is lost. RJ and Krstic have been stunted because of Carter .

I feel as if we just need a coach who isn’t afraid to coach. When we inherited frank he was a dud surrounded by too many stars and even now with all this talent we have (house, nachbar, boone, marcus, and adams) I think its just like trying to handle a gun that’s too big. We need a coach with the attitude of not caring who the player is and not afraid to play his players. Sometimes I feel frank should run the offense through rj when vc is playing well but sometimes he just forces vc into turnovers and fadeaways the other night when frank told cliff that boone was going to be getting his minutes I was like wow frank is finally growing a pair now if he could apply that to the team as a opposed to a position then I think we will be aight and if we can’t defend then put house in with vc, rj , nb and mm and lets run like the suns. .

Actuall thats all bull. Carter does pay D but obviously he was helping on other double-teams and not expecting much from Caroll compliment of Frank. And when his shot is off hes usually being triple-teamed. You can thank RJ and Kristic for being injured the whoe season. And thanks to Kidd shootinglike crap our offense has to run through him. Thanks Vince for actually caring/ .

You make it sound as if Vince has been amazing this season. As a someone who watches every game, I can tell you the last game against chalotte was his best since the game-tying shot in washington earlier this year. He doesn’t play defense, which was obvious as Matt Carrol lit him up, and when his shot’s off he is good for nothing. Kidd is the team while RJ, as always, has worked his tail off and picked up the scraps that vince leaves behind. As a loyal Nets fan, I want vince out, NOW. .
