Boston won both meetings with the Hornets last season, but has dropped five of the last eight matchups. The Celts have also lost four of seven and seven of 11 as the road team in this series.
The Celtics come into tonight’s encounter on the heels of a 91-73 loss to the Houston Rockets on Tuesday at the Toyota Center.
Paul Pierce netted a team-high 20 points for the Celtics, who have dropped two of their last three contests. Al Jefferson recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Ricky Davis chipped in 10 points and six boards in defeat.
Delonte West added 12 points for the Celtics, who were coming off a win at New York on Sunday and have still yet to win back-to-back games this season.
Raef LaFrentz, who scored a season-high 32 points vs. Houston when the teams met in Boston, managed one point Tuesday. He was 0-of-6 from the field and 1- of-4 from the line.
Boston, which will close their trek with stops in San Antonio and Dallas, is a dismal 1-5 away from home this season.
