Champs welcome Bucks to AT&T Center

01.18.2006

(Basketball News) - The defending world champion San Antonio Spurs go for their third straight win, as they welcome the Milwaukee Bucks tonight to the AT&T Center.

Tony Parker poured in 28 points on 12-of-13 shooting from the field and Tim Duncan was a force inside with 13 points and 12 rebounds, as the Spurs used a dominating final 14 minutes to beat the Memphis Grizzlies, 93-83, on Monday at the FedExForum.

Manu Ginobili finished with 15 points and Michael Finley scored 13 in the win over the Grizzlies for San Antonio, which has won eight of its last 10 games overall.

San Antonio is an impressive 18-2 as the host this season. The Spurs have won 13 of their last 14 at home.

Milwaukee has lost two straight games and plays the middle contest of a three- game road trip. On Monday, Dirk Nowitzki scored 35 points on 14-of-21 shooting, as the Dallas Mavericks cruised to a 114-95 victory over the Bucks at American Airlines Center.

Michael Redd led the Bucks in the loss to Dallas with 29 points, including 11- of-12 from the foul line, and Maurice Williams contributed 18 points for Milwaukee, which has lost six of its last eight games overall.

The Bucks are 9-9 on the road this season. They will visit the Atlanta Hawks on Friday in the finale of the current swing. Milwaukee has lost three of its last four as the visitor.

This is the second and final meeting of the season between the clubs. On December 20th, rookie Andrew Bogut scored as time expired in overtime to lift the Bucks over the Spurs, 109-107, at Bradley Center.

The Spurs have still won five of the last seven meetings in this series. Milwaukee has lost three straight after winning its last three at San Antonio.
