Clippers host streaking Spurs

12.31.2004

Los Angeles, CA (Basketball News) - The Los Angeles Clippers go for their third straight win at home tonight, as they host Tim Duncan and the streaking San Antonio Spurs at the Staples Center.

This is the first of four meetings between the Spurs and Clippers. Last season, the Spurs were victorious in three of the four contests. Overall, San Antonio has won three straight and eight of the last 10 contests. The Spurs have won two of three and 10 of their last 12 at the Clippers.

On Wednesday, Elton Brand scored 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Clippers over the Utah Jazz, 101-90, at the Staples Center. Bobby Simmons and Corey Maggette each added 22 points for the Clippers, who won for just the second time in nine games. It was just the third win for the Clippers in the last 24 matchups with Utah.

The Clippers are 13-8 when they allow under 100 points this season.

Brand has scored in double-digits in 25 of the 26 games that he has played in this season. He is averaging 17.3 points and 9.1 rebounds in his last 10 contests.

The Clippers are 9-7 as the host this season.

San Antonio plays the middle contest of a three-game road trip tonight. On Thursday, Tim Duncan scored a game-high 19 points and added nine rebounds to lead the Spurs over the Portland Trail Blazers, 114-80, at the Rose Garden.

Tony Parker tallied 18 points and four assists for the Spurs, who have won four straight games.

Duncan has scored in double-digits in all 30 of San Antonio’s games this season. He has registered 23 double-doubles.

The Spurs, who finish up their road swing on Sunday against the Sacramento Kings at ARCO Arena, are 10-5 on the road this season.
