Manhattan, KS (Basketball News) - Kansas State announced Friday that the university has given men’s head basketball coach Jim Wooldridge a two-year contract extension.
Wooldridge, who had one year remaining on his original five-year contract, has coached the Wildcats to a 51-65 record in four seasons.
"I have been encouraged by several things happening in our program under Jim’s leadership," said Kansas State director of athletics Tim Weiser. "Jim and I recognize there is still much work to do in order to bring our basketball program to the level we both desire. I think this year provided some momentum for us to continue in a positive direction as evidenced by the young talent that Jim has recruited and an improved record."
Wooldridge and the Wildcats finished 14-14 in the 2003-04 season and 6-10 in the Big 12 Conference. Both victory totals are the best for the Wildcats under Wooldridge, and the most for the school since the 1998-99 campaign.
The 17-year college head coach also has held the top job at Central Missouri State, Texas State and Louisiana Tech.
