|
The Pistons’ latest effort was a 106-102 overtime win against the Milwaukee Bucks. Chauncey Billups buried two big shots in overtime to lead the Detroit over the Bucks at The Palace of Auburn Hills. Billups had 11 of his 23 points in OT and dished out 15 assists. Richard Hamilton poured in 35 points and Rasheed Wallace added 20 in the victory.
Detroit became the sixth team in NBA history to record a 35-5 mark after 40 games. The Pistons are 18-2 against the Eastern Conference and 18-2 at home this season. They are on pace to win 71 games - the most since the Chicago Bulls set the all-time mark of 72-10 in 1996.
The Pistons’ start matches the record-setting start of another famous Detroit team - the World Series-winning 1984 Tigers.
The team will play Memphis (25-16) at home on Friday and the Los Angeles Lakers (22-19) on Sunday night. Detroit is 5-2 against the Grizzlies since 2002 and have beaten the Lakers the last three meetings.
All five starters played more than 40 minutes in the win against Milwaukee. Though all five - Billups, Hamilton, Tayshaun Prince, Ben and Rasheed Wallace average more than 35 minutes a game, it was the first time all season that they all played 40 minutes in the same game.
Detroit is averaging 102.3 ppg during the winning streak and giving up just 86.5 ppg.
Guard Carlos Delfino (illness) and center Dale Davis (illness) are questionable for Friday’s game.
