Undefeated Ducks cruise past Pilots

Eugene, OR (Basketball News) - Maarty Leunen posted 24 points and 14 rebounds, as the 20th-ranked Oregon Ducks pounded the University of Portland Pilots, 76-49, at McArthur Court for a non-conference clash.

Aaron Brooks netted 19 points for the Ducks (12-0), who moved to 12-0 for the first time in 60 years. Adam Zahn notched 10 points and seven boards.

Darren Cooper scored 12 points for the Pilots (3-13), who have lost 12 of their last 15 games to date. Nine of the 12 setbacks have come by double figures, and all eight tilts away from home have ended in losses. Taishi Ito netted nine points.

Oregon went 24-for-63 (38 percent) from the field, compared to 15-for-60 (25 percent) by the Pilots, who got outrebounded 54-33. The Ducks outscored the Pilots, 13-2 in points off turnovers.

Oregon closed the first half on a 23-8 run capped by a Leunen layup with 50 seconds left, and led 34-21 at halftime. The Ducks outscored the Pilots, 42-28 in the second half to attain supreme control and another victory in an undefeated season thus far.

Game Notes

Oregon holds a 47-9 series advantage over Portland, but the Pilots did post an 80-72 victory over the Ducks in last season’s meeting.
