(Basketball News) - The streaking Dallas Mavericks attempt to win a season- high sixth straight game, as they visit the struggling Los Angeles Clippers tonight at the Staples Center.

This is the second meeting of the season between the clubs. On January 20th, the Mavericks crushed the Clippers, 99-77, at American Airlines Center. Overall, Dallas has won three straight and eight of the last 10 in this series. The Mavs have won three of four and nine of their last 11 at the Clippers.

On Sunday, All-Star Dirk Nowitzki converted a three-point play with 17.9 seconds left in the fourth quarter to lift Dallas to a 95-93 win over the Denver Nuggets at American Airlines Center. Nowitzki ended with 35 points and 11 rebounds for the Mavericks, who have won five straight games. Michael Finley finished with 17 points in Sunday’s victory, while Jason Terry added 15 in the win.

Nowitzki has scored 20 or more points in 14 straight games. He has recorded six double-doubles in that span and registered more than 30 points in five of those contests.

Finley has scored in double-digits in nine straight contests. He has averaged 18.7 points in that span. The Wisconsin product is averaging 18 points and 4.2 rebounds in 24 games this season for the Mavs.

The Mavericks, who visit the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday, are 11-5 on the road this season. Dallas has won seven of its last nine contests as the visitor.

Dallas plays three games this week, as it will host the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday after the Portland game. The Mavericks are 1-0 against the Blazers this season, while they will play Philadelphia for the first time in the 2004-05 campaign.
