Doesn’t look good for the SuperSonics 03.21.2007
|
The SuperSonics last appeared in the postseason in 2004-05 when they captured the Northwest Division during the regular season, and lost in the Western Conference semifinals to the San Antonio Spurs, who went on to win the championship that season.
Seattle is scheduled to split its final 16 games of the regular season between KeyArena and the road. The SuperSonics home games are against Washington, Minnesota, San Antonio, Memphis, Denver, the Lakers, Houston and Dallas. They will visit the Timberwolves, Nuggets, Spurs, Hornets, Jazz, Suns, Trail Blazers and the Lakers.
Seven-time All-Star Ray Allen is having another excellent season for Seattle. Allen leads the SuperSonics in scoring (26.4 ppg) and is shooting 43.8 percent from the field, including 37.2 percent from beyond the arc.
The SuperSonics open a three-game homestand when they welcome the Southeast Division-leading Wizards on Wednesday to KeyArena. It is the second and final meeting of the campaign between the squads. On February 5th, Caron Butler, who is currently out with a sore left knee, scored a career-high 38 points as the Wizards cruised to a 118-108 win over the SuperSonics at the Verizon Center.
Washington has lost two of its last three at Seattle. The Wizards have won five of the last six contests in the series.
Seattle tries to win back-to-back games against the Wizards. Rashard Lewis had a game-high 27 points and collected 12 rebounds to lift the SuperSonics past the Portland Trail Blazers, 95-77, at the Rose Garden.
Chris Wilcox ended with 26 points and nine boards in the win over the Trail Blazers for Seattle, which snapped a five-game slide. Nick Collison posted a double-double with 16 points and 11 boards, while Allen scored 12 in the victory.
The SuperSonics are 18-15 at home this season. They will host the Timberwolves on Friday and the Spurs on Sunday at KeyArena.
