Duncan suffers ankle injury

03.20.2005

Auburn Hills, MI (Basketball News) - San Antonio Spurs All-Star forward/center Tim Duncan was forced to leave Sunday’s game against the Detroit Pistons with a severely sprained right ankle.

Duncan suffered the injury with 10:09 left in the first quarter after he landed on the foot of Detroit’s Rasheed Wallace following a basket. He immediately grabbed the foot and was grimacing in pain.

The 28-year-old Duncan then had to be helped off the court and was taken for X-rays, which came back negative. He is expected to be further evaluated and his playing status will be determined at that time.

Duncan entered Sunday’s action averaging 21.2 points and 11.5 rebounds over 61 contests this season. He was sidelined for a few games earlier this month with the same injury.
