Oakland, CA (Basketball News) - The Golden State Warriors Wednesday re-signed free agent guard/forward Calbert Cheaney. As per club policy, terms of the deal were undisclosed.
Cheaney, 33, appeared in 79 games last season with the Warriors, averaging 7.6 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 26.2 minutes of action. In seven starts last season, Cheaney netted 15.4 points to go along with 4.7 rebounds per contest.
"We are very happy that Calbert has decided to remain a member of our team," said president of basketball operations Chris Mullin. "We’ve made a concerted effort to surround our young core of players with solid, team-oriented veterans who can help in their development, provide leadership and help us on the court, too. Calbert fits that description perfectly and is a true professional in every sense of the word."
Entering his 12th NBA season, Cheaney was originally drafted by Washington back in the 1993 NBA Draft. In 728 career games, the Indiana product owns career averages of 10.3 points with 3.3 rebounds with the Wizards, Boston, Denver, Utah and Golden State. He joined the Warriors as a free agent on August 27, 2003.
