(Basketball News) - Erick Dampier netted 19 points to go with 21 rebounds as Golden State knocked off the Washington Wizards, 99-78, in a battle of have- nots on Friday at The Arena.
Jason Richardson added 16 points and nine boards as the Warriors extended their win streak to a season-long six games. Mike Dunleavy chipped in 13 in the win while Avery Johnson recorded his first double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 assists.
Golden State has held all six opponents under 90 points during its winning streak — the Warriors’ longest such stretch since the advent of the shot clock in 1954.
Point guard Speedy Claxton didn’t play Friday night, his 15th consecutive game missed because of a fractured finger on his shooting hand. Claxton had said earlier this week he was hoping to play against the Wizards. Head coach Eric Musselman said he hopes Claxton will be available for at least part of the team’s upcoming four-game road trip, which begins Tuesday in Philadelphia.
Golden State, which will host the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday, has won five consecutive home games and is 23-13 in Oakland this season.
The Warriors have dropped two of three to the Clips this season and have lost six of the last 10 meetings. Golden State has also lost three straight and five of its last six in the Bay Area against LA.
Golden State is 2-6 in Sunday games this season.
