|
(Basketball News) - The Golden State Warriors fell to 0-3 on the season, as they were defeated by the Los Angeles Clippers, 94-86, on Saturday in front of their home crowd.
Speedy Claxton had 18 points and nine assists and Troy Murphy scored 17 points for the Warriors, who dropped all three games on their homestand to begin the campaign. Jason Richardson contributed 15 points in the loss.
Golden State trailed by nine after three quarters, but pulled within 78-74 on Richardson’s three-pointer with just under four minutes remaining. The Warriors, though, could not draw any closer as they were plagued by poor foul shooting and a terrible percentage from three-point range all night.
For the game, Golden State hit only 23-of-38 free throws (61 percent) and just 1-of-15 three-point tries (7 percent).
Richardson leads the Warriors in scoring after three contests at 13 points per game.
The Warriors start a five-game road trip on Monday at Dallas. Golden State will also play San Antonio, Memphis, Charlotte and Cleveland.
