Cardinal had been on the injured list since November 30 due to a sprained right ankle. He played 22 minutes and scored four points against the Timberwolves.
Cardinal signed as a free agent with Memphis after spending last season with Golden State. The fifth-year pro averaged 6.7 points and 3.4 rebounds in 13 games coming into Saturday’s game.
Forward Ryan Humphrey, also sidelined with a sprained ankle, was placed on the IL to open a spot on the roster. Center Stromile Swift did not play against Minnesota due to neck spasms.
