Grizzlies deal Wells to Sacramento for Jackson 08.3.2005
|
The 29-year-old Wells averaged 10.5 points per game — his lowest scoring per-game average since the 1999-2000 season with Portland — in 69 games with Memphis.
Wells played 128 contests with Memphis and averaged 11.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game. The Grizzlies acquired him in December 2003 from the Trail Blazers.
Jackson has been a spark off Sacramento’s bench the past couple seasons, netting 12 points per game last year. Injuries, though, limited his playing time to just 25 games in 2004.
"Bobby is not only a talented player and great competitor, but he is an individual of tremendous character," said Grizzlies president of basketball operations Jerry West. "He will be a veteran leader and an explosive scorer, and we are thrilled to have him in a Memphis Grizzlies uniform."
Greg Ostertag was also included in the deal to the Grizzlies, but was then traded later in the day to Utah as part of an NBA-record five-team, 13-player deal.
