Memphis is 1-4 on its current swing. On Saturday, Chucky Atkins scored 18 points and burned his old team by making a free throw with three seconds left, to boost the Grizzlies to a 100-99 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers at the Staples Center.
All-Star Pau Gasol finished with 31 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists in the win over the Lakers for Memphis. Eddie Jones added 25 points and eight rebounds against his former club, as the Grizzlies snapped a season-high five- game skid and won three of the four meetings this season versus the Lakers.
The Grizzlies, who will host the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday in their final game before the All-Star break, are 12-15 as the visitor this season. They are 2-8 in their last 10 contests on the road.
Golden State returns home after going 1-2 on a three-game road trip. Jason Richardson scored 31 points to lead the Warriors past LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers, 99-91, on Saturday at Quicken Loans Arena.
Derek Fisher scored 18 points in the win over the Cavaliers for Golden State, which snapped a two-game losing streak. Mike Dunleavy scored 14 points, while Andris Biedrins netted 11 and Mickael Pietrus scored 10 for the Warriors, who have still lost eight of their last 12 games overall.
The Warriors, who will host the Clippers on Wednesday in their final game before the All-Star break, are 14-13 as the host this season. They have won two in a row at The Arena.
This is the second meeting of the season between the clubs. On January 3rd, Jones scored 23 points and Gasol netted 21 as Memphis knocked off the Warriors, 104-94, at FedExForum.
Memphis has won two straight and five of the last six meetings in this series. The Grizzlies have won four of six and six of their last 10 at Golden State.
