Grizzlies host Carmelo and the Nuggets

Memphis, TN (Basketball News) - Pau Gasol and the Memphis Grizzlies attempt to win their fifth straight game tonight as they welcome rookie sensation Carmelo Anthony and the Denver Nuggets to The Pyramid.

The is the fourth and final contest between the two squads this season. Denver has won twice at the Pepsi Center, while the Grizzlies beat the Nuggets, 106-88, in Memphis on January 25.

On Saturday, James Posey poured in a game-high 27 points to lead the Grizzlies to a 105-98 win over the Chicago Bulls at the United Center. Gasol finished with 23 points and nine rebounds for Memphis, which has won eight of its last nine overall.

Bonzi Wells contributed 16 points and Lorenzen Wright netted 14 and grabbed nine rebounds in the win over Chicago.

Posey is averaging 21.3 points and six rebounds in his last three games.

Memphis, which has won five straight as the host, is an impressive 21-7 at home this season. The Grizzlies are 20-1 when scoring at least 100 points.

The Nuggets, who play the final contest of a three-game road trip, come into tonight’s game on a two-game losing streak. On Saturday, Denver lost to the Miami Heat, 97-81, at AmericanAirlines Arena.

Anthony led the Nuggets with 16 points on just 3-of-20 shooting in the loss to Miami. Andre Miller finished with 15 points, while Voshon Lenard chipped in 14 for Denver, which lost its second straight following a three-game win streak.

The Nuggets have scored at least 100 points 26 times (20-6) this season.

Denver, which has lost four of its last five on the road, is 11-17 as the visitor this season.

The home team has won nine straight and 12 of the last 13 contests in this series. Denver has lost three straight after winning its last four at the Grizzlies.
