Grizzlies sign Battier to six-year extension 07.15.2004

Memphis, TN (Basketball News) - The Memphis Grizzlies on Thursday signed forward Shane Battier to a six-year contract extension. As per club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Since being drafted by the Grizzlies with the sixth-overall pick in the 2001 draft, Battier has averaged 10.9 points and 4.5 rebounds over 235 career NBA games.
He posted averages of 8.5 points and 3.8 boards last season, helping Memphis to a franchise-best record of 50-32 and the team’s first playoff berth.
"I am proud of my first three years in Memphis," Battier said. "I am also very grateful for the commitment that the Grizzlies organization has shown towards me."
