11.4.2006

(Basketball News) - The Memphis Grizzlies play their first road contest of the 2006-07 campaign, as they visit the Detroit Pistons tonight at The Palace of Auburn Hills.

Memphis will try to win back-to-back games this evening. On Friday, Mike Miller scored 21 of his 27 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Grizzlies to a 96-83 victory over the Charlotte Bobcats at the FedExForum.

Miller shot 8-for-13 from the field, including 5-for-7 from beyond the arc to lead Memphis to its first win of the young season. Forward Hakim Warrick ended with 15 points and six rebounds in the win for the Grizzlies.

The Grizzlies were 19-22 on the road last season. They return home on Tuesday to host Yao Ming and the Houston Rockets.

Detroit also picked up its first win of the campaign on Friday. All-Star guard Richard Hamilton scored 27 points, as the Pistons downed the Boston Celtics, 101-88, at TD Banknorth Garden.

Chauncey Billups posted 20 points and 11 assists in the win over Boston for the Pistons, while Rasheed Wallace finished with 18 points and nine rebounds. Nazr Mohammed contributed 14 points and eight boards in the win.

The Pistons are 0-1 at home this season. They dropped their home-opener on Wednesday to Milwaukee, 105-97. After tonight’s contest, the Pistons hit the road for a four-game swing. They will visit Utah, Sacramento, the Lakers and Golden State.

Last season, the Pistons swept the season-series, 2-0. The Grizzlies are 2-8 at Detroit.
