Grizzlies waive veteran guard Jones

Memphis, TN (Basketball News) - The Memphis Grizzlies waived veteran guard Eddie Jones on Tuesday.

In 29 games this season, Jones averaged 5.6 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.1 assists.

"We thank Eddie for his tremendous contributions during his stay in Memphis," said Grizzlies president of basketball operations Jerry West. "He was a consummate professional and we wish him well in his future basketball endeavors. On a personal note, I think he has a bright future in basketball after his playing days are over."

Jones was acquired by Memphis from Miami in a five-team trade in August of 2005. In 104 games with the Grizzlies, Jones averaged 10.1 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game.

Through 872 career games, Jones has tallied 15.7 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game.
