Harpring stays with Jazz

07.13.2006

Salt Lake City, UT (Basketball News) - The Utah Jazz re-signed Matt Harpring late Wednesday. Terms of the forward’s contract were not released.

"We are excited that Matt chose to re-sign with the Jazz," said Utah senior vice president of basketball operations Kevin O’Connor. "He brings a warrior mentality and fans have recognized how hard he plays."

Harpring, who has undergone a pair of knee surgeries in the last 2 1/2 years, averaged 12.5 points and 5.2 rebounds in 71 games last season. He missed time at the start of the year while recovering from offseason knee surgery.

For his career, the eight-year veteran has averaged 13 points and 5.9 rebounds in 449 career games for Orlando, Cleveland, Philadelphia and Utah. The Georgia Tech product was the 15th overall selection in the 1998 NBA Draft by the Magic.
