Hawks host Bulls

01.21.2004

Atlanta, GA (Basketball News) - The two worst teams in the Central Division square off tonight, as the Atlanta Hawks welcome the Chicago Bulls to Philips Arena.

Earlier this season, the Bulls knocked off the Hawks, 100-94, on October 31, 2003 at the United Center.

Chicago comes into tonight’s game on a four-game losing streak. On Monday, the Bulls fell to the Washington Wizards, 93-83, at MCI Center.

Jamal Crawford posted 19 points and Kirk Hinrich chipped in 15 in the loss for the Bulls. Antonio Davis contributed 10 points and 16 rebounds for Chicago, which has lost 13 of its last 15 road games.

Crawford is averaging 19.5 points and 7.5 assists in the last two games. He has also scored in double digits in six straight games.

The Bulls are 5-14 on the road this season.

The Hawks, who trail Chicago by half a game in the Central Division, lost on Monday when Reggie Miller’s three-pointer with 55.3 seconds remaining broke a tie and propelled the Indiana Pacers to a 100-97 win over Atlanta at Philips Arena.

Miller, who finished with 13 points, hit an off-balance three-pointer with the shot clock winding down to break a 93-93 tie and give the Pacers the lead for good.

"It was a disappointing loss," said Hawks guard Jason Terry. "That’s four times we had the Pacers, so it’s going to hurt until next year when we see them again."

Shareef Abdur-Rahim scored 32 points in front of a sellout crowd of 19,635 fans for the Hawks.

Atlanta, which has lost five of its last eight at home, is 7-11 as the host this season.

Chicago has won two straight and three of the last four contests with the Hawks. The Bulls have lost three of five and six of their last nine at Atlanta.
