Hawks ink GM Billy Knight to contract extension 10.5.2004
|
Since the end of last season, Knight has hired Mike Woodson as the club’s new head coach and acquired 11 new players either by trade or through the NBA draft. His previous front office experience includes stints with the Memphis/Vancouver Grizzlies franchise and with the Indiana Pacers.
"Billy Knight has a great track record for building winning teams in the NBA," said Steve Belkin, a member of the Atlanta Hawks board of managers. "We challenged him to form a team that will play an up-tempo, exciting and competitive style of basketball and in less than a year, Billy has done this."
Knight has been with the Hawks since being hired as director of basketball operations by former general manager Pete Babcock prior to the 2002-03 season.
