Heat activate rookie Wade 01.28.2004
|
The injury occurred when he fell in a win at Washington back on December 26. Wade was placed on the injured list January 2 with bone contusions in the wrist.
Wade, the Heat’s top pick in the 2003 NBA Draft, has averaged 16.2 points and a team-high 4.4 assists and 4.2 rebounds. He is also leading the team with 1.28 steals in 36.5 minutes in 29 contests this season.
According to head coach Stan Van Gundy, Wade will come off the bench for now. Wade will participate in next month’s Rookie Challenge during All-Star weekend in Los Angeles.
To make room for Wade, the Heat placed forward Rasual Butler on the injured list with a strained groin. Butler was averaging 5.7 points to go along with 1.4 rebounds.
Miami is 19-26 which has them tied in fourth place of the Atlantic Division. The Heat though do come into tonight’s contest on a high note, as Miami has won three straight games.
