Heat continue homestand versus Jazz

(Basketball News) - The Miami Heat resume a five-game homestand tonight when they host the Utah Jazz at AmericanAirlines Arena.

The Heat are 2-1 on the homestand after Sunday’s 98-92 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers. Dwyane Wade had 35 points, nine rebounds and seven assists, while Shaquille O’Neal added 18 points and eight boards for the Heat, who won for the 11th time in 12 games.

Miami, seeded No. 2 in the Eastern Conference, is 10-1 in its last 11 home games and an impressive 24-7 as the host this season. The Heat will wrap up the homestand against Boston on Thursday.

Utah, meanwhile, is in the hunt for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

In a 90-87 loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday, Mehmet Okur had 32 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, while Andrei Kirilenko added 19 points and nine rebounds for the Jazz, who had a two-game winning streak snapped.

Carlos Boozer contributed 10 points and seven boards in the loss.

Utah will now open a four-game road trip in Miami, then will travel to Orlando, Atlanta and Memphis.

The Jazz are 2-3 in their last five road games and 14-16 as the guest this season.

In the season series between Miami and Utah, the Heat lead 1-0 after notching a 100-94 victory on January 14. Wade netted a game-high 31 points and added eight rebounds and eight assists in the triumph.

Miami has won four straight in the series with Utah, which has lost two in a row in South Beach.
