Heat hope to get hot against Knicks

11.28.2005

(Basketball News) - The Miami Heat attempt to put the brakes on a two-game skid tonight when they welcome the New York Knicks to AmericanAirlines Arena.

The Heat have won four straight and five of the last six meetings in this series. The Knicks have lost two in a row at Miami.

On Saturday, Hedo Turkoglu scored 18 points and Dwight Howard had 15 points, 16 rebounds and four blocks to lead the Orlando Magic over the Heat, 80-77, at TD Waterhouse Centre.

All-Star guard Dwyane Wade scored a game-high 21 points in the loss to the Magic for Miami, which has lost three of its last four games overall. Alonzo Mourning added 15 points, a season-high 21 rebounds and four blocks for the Heat, who also lost to Dallas on Friday night.

Miami is 6-2 at home this season. After tonight’s game, the Heat will embark on a five-game road trip. They will visit Atlanta, Sacramento, Denver, the Clippers and San Antonio.

The Knicks have won two of their last three games overall. Nate Robinson’s three-pointer as time expired in overtime capped a big comeback and lifted the New York to a 105-102 win over the Philadelphia 76ers at Madison Square Garden.

Robinson finished with 17 points in the win over the Sixers for New York, while Stephon Marbury paced the Knicks with 33 points. Rookie Channing Frye had 21 points and 11 rebounds for New York.

New York is 2-6 on the road this season. The Knicks return home on Wednesday to host the Chicago Bulls.
