Heat resume trek at Utah

01.13.2007

(Basketball News) - The Miami Heat shoot for their fourth straight win when they resume a six-game road trip tonight against the Utah Jazz at EnergySolutions Arena.

Miami posted its third straight victory with Friday’s 118-96 win over the Golden State Warriors at ORACLE Arena. Dwyane Wade posted 22 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists, as the defending world champion Heat improved to 3-1 on the trek.

Jason Kapono netted 20 points and Alonzo Mourning posted 19 points and eight boards for Miami, which is five games off the lead in the Southeast Division and 8-10 away from South Beach this season.

The Heat will wrap up the trip on Monday against Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers at the Staples Center. Miami superstar center Shaquille O`Neal (left knee surgery) is expected to miss at least another week.

Meanwhile, the Northwest Division-leading Jazz have lost two straight and three of their last four games, including Friday’s 122-114 overtime setback to the Seattle SuperSonics at Key Arena. Ray Allen netted a career-high 54 points to lead Seattle.

Carlos Boozer scored 32 points and grabbed 16 boards for Utah, while Mehmet Okur recorded 23 points and eight boards. Deron Williams posted 15 points, seven boards and nine assists for the Jazz, who are 14-3 at home this season.

Utah, which owns a five-game lead over Minnesota in the division, has lost five in a row to the Heat.

Miami has won two straight in Salt Lake City.
