03.18.2006

(Basketball News) - The Miami Heat will try to extend their winning streak to four games this afternoon, as they visit the Chicago Bulls at the United Center.

This is the second meeting of the season between the squads. On December 13th, All-Star center Shaquille O’Neal scored 30 points to lead Miami over the Bulls, 100-97, at the United Center.

Miami has won two straight and eight of the last nine meetings in this series. The Heat have won four of their last five at Chicago.

The Heat open a four-game road trip tonight. On Thursday, Dwyane Wade scored 30 points as Miami overcame a 25-point deficit in the second quarter and beat the Boston Celtics, 107-104, at AmericanAirlines Arena.

O’Neal scored 26 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the win over Boston for the Heat, who have won 13 of their last 14 games overall. Jason Williams netted 21, while Udonis Haslem finished with 11 points and 11 rebounds in the victory.

Miami, which will also visit New York, Minnesota and Detroit on the current swing, is a respectable 17-14 as the visitor this season. The Heat have won four in a row on the road.

The Bulls will try and get back on the winning track today. On Wednesday, Bobby Simmons had 26 points and nine rebounds as the Milwaukee Bucks cruised to a 104-88 victory over Chicago at the Bradley Center.

Andres Nocioni ended with a career-high 25 points and nine rebounds, while Kirk Hinrich poured in 19 points and dished out 12 assists in the loss to Milwaukee for the Bulls, who had a two-game winning streak halted.

Chicago is 15-17 at the United Center this season. The Bulls have won two of their last three at home.

The Heat are scheduled to host the Bulls on April 16th at AmericanAirlines Arena in the third and final meeting of the campaign between the squads. Chicago has lost 11 straight at Miami.
