Chris Paul scored 18 points for the Hornets, who snapped a four-game losing streak. Marc Jackson scored 16 points, while P.J. Brown had 12. Aaron Williams added 10 points.
"I’m going out and trying to play the way I’ve been taught to play basketball, take good shots, try to play solid defense, rebound and just try to play the right way, that’s all I’m really trying to do," said Butler.
Jason Richardson and Mike Dunleavy scored 19 points apiece for the Warriors, who have dropped two straight. Derek Fisher scored 16 points, while Troy Murphy added 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Butler drained a three with 1:27 left to give the Hornets their largest lead of the game, 86-81.
Richardson responded with a pair of free throws four seconds later to cut the Golden State deficit to 86-83, and Fisher hit a jumper with 36 seconds remaining to make it a one-point game.
Jackson missed a jumper with 10 ticks left, allowing Golden State to have the final possession. The Warriors got three shots off in the lane in the final six seconds before Dunleavy made a tip-in a tenth of a second after the buzzer and the Hornets held on for the win.
Golden State took an early 13-4 lead, capped by a Richardson jumper with 7:52 to open the game, and led 29-22 heading into the second.
The Warriors went on a 12-2 run capped by a layup from Monta Ellis with 5:11 left to lead 41-32. The Hornets responded with a 12-4 run to close the stanza, however, and the score was 45-44 in favor of Golden State at halftime.
In the third quarter, Golden State used a 14-4 run that was snapped by a Brown jumper with 5:36 left to make the score 59-54. Golden State had a 67-66 lead heading into the final period.
New Orleans/Oklahoma City played the finale of a four-game road trip. The Hornets are 13-22 as the visitor this season. They snapped a six-game road losing streak.
Golden State played the middle contest of a three-game homestand. The Warriors are 18-18 at home this season. They are scheduled to host Sacramento on Friday.

Brown left the game with 2:44 left in the fourth quarter after injuring his left ankle...This was the second meeting of the season between the clubs. On November 28th, Baron Davis scored 17 points in his first game versus his former team, as the Warriors captured a 99-83 win over the Hornets at The Arena...The Hornets snapped a three-game losing streak but have lost four of their last six at Golden State...New Orleans/Oklahoma City is scheduled to host the Warriors on April 5th in the third and final meeting of the campaign between the clubs.
